Blue Zones – A resource that expands on the “Power of 9” – 9 lessons from six places in the world where people are living the longest. It includes discussion of “Blue Zone Projects” – communities, large and small, that are intentionally trying to become Blue Zones (places like Fort Worth, TX and Albert Lea, MN). Perhaps your church could become the spark for community wide action in your town/city.

Start an exercise club in your church. Use your local YMCA as a resource for potential leaders and a list of age appropriate exercises, or maybe you have a Silver Sneakers location near you, or check out their list of 9 best exercise types for older adults.

Aging Grace – by Tom Hafer; Tom is a Minister and Physical Therapist at Gulf Coast Village in southern FL. The book is an excellent exploration of connecting health life with faith life all life long. His tag line is “Caring for yourself to better care for others”.

Health Care You Can Live With – Dr Scott Morris. Dr Morris started the Church Health Center in Memphis, TN more than 25 years ago. A strong model for church/faith involvement in health care.  This book is his discussion of the current health care system challenges/shortcomings, and ways to respond.
